Day 2: E’ stato un grande giorno per essere un Bullet! We started our gameday warmup early in Ferrera with a bike tour of the beautiful city. We saw most of the city in the morning, from the Castello Estense in the center to the outer walls that stretch around the city limits. Our tour guide told us all about the long history of Ferrera by taking us past several churches and synagogues that were built in the 13th century.

After the conclusion of the tour we enjoyed some free time that began with lunch at a recommended restaurant and tried the local delicacy, Cappellacci, which is a tortellini filled with pumpkin. The rest of the afternoon was spent exploring the many side streets near the castle that were littered with shops and stands containing anything and everything, from Gelato to unique handmade clothing.

Dinner was amazing once again at the hotel, our wonderful hosts provided us with a traditional coursed meal that was the perfect fuel two hours before gametime.

The Bullets locked in on a quick bus ride to the gym as we were set to tip off with Ferrera Montale at 8:15PM. After a bit of a slow start adjusting to the FIBA balls and deeper three-point arc, the Bullets went into halftime up 3, 39-36. With some tough second half defense we were able to pull away, keeping Ferrera Montale to just 27 points while our offense caught fire. Rising senior Alec Warren, a long way from Ocean City, NJ, was 6-11 from downtown including a personal 12-0 run, knocking down deep treys four possesions in a row to close out the third quarter and help the Bullets pull away.

A solid finish led the Bullets to a 20- point victory, 83-63. Congratulations to new head coach, BJ Dunne, on his first Gettysburg basketball win! Also a big thank you to Ferrera Montale for hosting us in their gym and taking the time to play a competitive friendly match with us.

Day 2 was filled with great activities, one more thank you to our tour guide Leo, who has done an incredible job planning our trip (and helping me translate all the Italian in this post). Looking forward to the rest of the week, especially the SPAL soccer match Sunday night!
